To Best Friends

A best friend is a special thing,

To have one is to be blessed

They’ll care for you when you are down

And want for your success.

They’ll have your back when you’re not there,

Stay with you as you learn -

They’ll always lend a listening ear,

But expect nothing in return.

They’ll dry your tears when times are tough,

And be at the end of the phone -

Be there if you want to talk things through

Or sit in silence, but not alone.

They’ll be generous with their heart,

And they’ll nurture yours too

They’re the one who makes you sparkle,

And help you to feel happy you are you.

They’ll make you feel like you can conquer anything,

Because you have them by your side,

The love you have is so big, so terrifying -

You hope to God they’re always fine.

Because you don’t know what you’d do without them,

You’d miss all the laughs,

And if they weren’t there to hold your hand

And be your better half.

So God, if you’re out there,

Please answer this prayer I send -

I’ll say Amen and mean it
